Work

This place is so much fun I’m kind of waiting for them to be like “just kidding, back to a boring office job you don’t care about” and for everyone to expose themselves as assholes, take away our amazing benefits, and to just be thrown to the wolves. Training is so extensive that I probably won’t even get to handle a customer completely on my own for two more weeks. Most places, most OFFICES even, just kind of chuck you in your position and expect you to learn on the fly. Apple’s got this training thing down, man. If the whole world trained their employees this well, I think everything would work a lot better.
Also, I’m totally down with the store soundtrack. I’ve always loved the music they played in there, but I’ve been on the actual store floor twice in two days for a few minutes and both times, Coldplay songs were playing. Today when I clocked out, The Black Keys were playing. I could totally deal with this.
Of course, yesterday the NYT published an article about the working conditions of Foxconn laborers in China, and I think about four people (friends!) have put it in my face asking for a reaction. I’m officially supposed to refer people to the hotline and not comment on it further, so I won’t and haven’t, but you can probably guess my reactions on that particular matter. But outside of that issue, I’ve definitely drunk the kool-aid.
In other news, my old (Android) phone is essentially a brick that I can occasionally send a tweet or a text or make a call from, and Verizon won’t help me out for two more months. I can’t really live without a phone til then, so I’m going to have to get crafty because this is INSANE. Especially when I’m walking past boxes and boxes of fresh iPhones in the stockroom every day and I can’t make a damn phonecall on my current phone.
