I have a question is that a gif of Julian at the basketball game hard to tell who took the pic

It’s from a baseball game back in 2010 I think. I don’t have the original video though, sorry

Did you know the editor-in-chief/founder of rookie mag is a fifteen year old girl?!

Yeah! I actually occasionally checked in on her blog, stylerookie, way before Rookie Mag was even a thing. I’m not into fashion and I really don’t share Tavi’s taste in clothes or anything like that, but I just kind of really like the way she writes and I think she seems like a cool person. I see people side-eying her a lot, but I think Rookie Mag is a pretty cool website even though it’s target age group is for girls younger than me, and I think especially for someone so young, she’s a very talented person and does a lot of good.

which strokes concerts have you went?

Four of them!

10/9/2006, in Providence, Rhode Island

4/17/2011, in Indio, California

5/1/2011, in Columbia, Maryland

7/8/2011, in Naas, Ireland

Ironically, never in New York or London, which would have been the convenient places for me to see them.

are you going to the beatles: the lost concert" movie when it comes out next month?

I’m going to the premiere in NYC on Sunday! I could have waited another week or whatever and seen it a bit closer to home, but I always need an excuse to go to NYC, and premieres are fun, AND I magically already had the day off work. And besides the fact that I’m a huge Beatles fan and just don’t really express it in public a lot anymore, Albert and/or Nick could be there what who said that

Hello :) I read your snow patrol review and I was just wondering if you have any song recommendations for someone who has never listened to snow patrol before?

AHH! I’d love to!

There are their popular songs, like the ones that people associate with them and stereotype them by, and then there are others that aren’t singles and aren’t as well known, and I often think those are their best. My top ten is kind of a mix of both types, so I’ll give you that:

  1. How To Be Dead
  2. If There’s A Rocket Tie Me To It
  3. Chocolate
  4. Just Say Yes
  5. Berlin
  6. Open Your Eyes
  7. The Finish Line
  8. In A Dream I Saw Satellites
  9. Please Just Take These Photos From My Hands
  10. Grazed Knees

That was actually harder than I thought to compile! There are a lot more, honestly. My “favorites” playlist is 30 songs long. I recommend the albums Final Straw, Eyes Open, and A Hundred Million Suns (which is half of their discography, but you know).

What do you think of Albert's "Postal Blowfish" song? Thanks for the reply!

I like it! But do you know that Albert didn’t write it, and that it’s actually a cover of a Guided By Voices song? I think Albert does a GREAT job with it. It seems like The Strokes are just great at covering GBV. I like their cover of “A Salty Salute” more than I like the original, and that’s a hella good song.

can you explain what Julian's last tweets where about? Im so confused.

He was just being especially ridiculous with the Abraham Lincoln one, and concerning the OJ one, I think this is what he was referring to.

you mispelled "rarities" (:

Haha, I know—for some reason the word pisses me off without the “e” in there. I just always read it as “RAWR-ities” like that. There are a few words that irk me in their proper spellings so when it doesn’t matter to anyone else, like in my iTunes, I keep it the way I like it. I debate changing it, though. It’s just always been like that.

Listen! /watch?v=gloXwJWTWrg

I know I know I know, my point is that even though that might be what she SAID, I don’t think that’s what she MEANT, necessarily. I have no reason to stick up for her, either, besides the fact that I think people were needlessly mean to her before, during, and after her hosting the show with The Strokes as the musical guest, I just feel like whatever she said there wasn’t necessarily in conjunction with “I want to thank The Strokes.”

Lol well I was worried he would totally freak out if he stumbled into my strokes folder but someone reassured me they don't have time to nosy around your files anyway. But yeah, I've been so scared my laptop will crash again that I've kept my desktop nice and generic.

Oh they definitely don’t have time to go through your files that aren’t relevant to the problem…no way, there’s SO much going on back there and so many other computers to get to. But sometimes, especially in the case of data transfers to new computers, I guess they can potentially see your files (but I don’t know a ton about the process since that’s not my area, this is just a guess).

If I didn’t work there and had to bring my computer in, I probably wouldn’t care that much about what they thought about what was on my computer, but now that I work there and am friends with those people and they saw how many pictures were in my Strokes folder or something…oh man.

Does anyone at the Apple store make fun of peoples desktops? When mine needed to be repaired a few months ago, my desktop image was that picture of the strokes where they're all holding the boards spelling out the band's name. The genius guy gave me a weird look, it was awkward...

HAHAHA, OK, this is a great question.

I’m not a technician and am not often in the room where they do repairs or looking at the computers in for repair, so I can’t say from experience, but I mean, I guess because people see desktops and all of your files, they could not be a fan of whatever you have on there…but there’s a really, really strict privacy policy too, so outside of a weird look they can’t really say much about anything on there unless it’s illegal.

I’ve never had to bring my computer in for an appointment, but I think if I ever did, I’d probably change my desktop to something more generic, haha. Once someone at uni saw my iPod wallpaper being a picture of Julian and asked if he was my boyfriend.

is nigel albert's cat?

Yes, back in the early 2000s (though I forget exactly what year), there was this photo on the official website:

He was the cat that Julian and Albert had when they lived together, evidently, and I’m kind of surprised he’s still alive and that Albert still has him!

i just saw your answer to someone's question on the fuckyeahthestrokes blog, and i was just wondering, what were you doing in the UK, and do people with english accents try to do american accents?

Hahaha, I don’t know why this made me laugh, but it did.

I went to university in the UK, ironically studying America (people always get a kick out of that). And yeah, people would often try and imitate my accent and would usually end up sounding either extremely and stereotypically southern (I’m from the northeast, so that was a fail), or like an effeminate pirate with way too much emphasis on the R sounds. I was told that I still sounded very American to them most times, but I did pick up the intonation, especially when asking questions, and a lot of the vocab and spelling. I’ve been back in the US for about 6 months now and I think I’ve dropped most of that unless I’m talking to an English friend, but occasionally, especially in the first few months, people would tell me that I said something I just said “with an accent,” so go figure.
